Figuring out the Bus system in Ishigaki

If you don’t want to rent a car, route buses could take you to major tourist attractions such as Kabira Bay, Yonehara beach, Hirakubo lighthouse and Tamatorizaki viewpoint in Ishigaki. However, the bus route system is a bit tricky and what makes it even worse, the bus company doesn’t even bother to make an official English website (they do have an English version of bus timetable available at the Ishigaki bus terminal though).

Here I summarized the bus system by categorizing them into popular tourist attractions, with important information such as nearest bus stop, duration, simple timetable (from Ishigaki bus terminal to the destination and the other way around). For detailed bus route map, check out this well-made Okinawa bus guide here.

Where to take the bus? You can take the bus from Ishigaki Bus terminal and all the bus stops on the way.

Price: depends on the distance of your point of departure and destination (you will need to take a ticket with number when you get on the bus, and pay when you get off. The price will be shown on the monitor in front of the bus.) An easier way is to buy the One-day pass(¥1000) or five-day pass(¥2000) , which you will show to the driver every time you get on/off the bus.
